Osteoporosis affects an estimated 10 million Americans, with 34 million more at increased risk based on low bone mass. DEXA Bone Density is a non-invasive and painless test which detects your current and future risk of bone loss and osteoporosis-related fractures. DEXA Bone Density can also monitor your body's response to osteoporosis treatment. Midwest Open Imaging's GE Lunar Prodigy DEXA Bone Density scanner measures the density of your hips and spine. Those numbers are then interpreted by a board-certified radiologist, and reported to your physician.
MWOI offers DEXA Bone Density appointments Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm.

Most DEXA Bone Density exams take less than 10 minutes. Once you are resting on the table, make sure you are able to comfortably remain still. Breathe normally, as there is nothing about the procedure that should make you anxious. One of our technologists will be in the scan room with you at all times.
